Council members are elected for four-year terms. Elections are held every two years in October, for the election of half of the Council members.

- ProfileMariam has been a voice for accessibility, transparency, and community engagement in city leadership. First elected to the council in November 2013 at the age of 28, she created the city’s first guide to the restaurant permitting process from start to finish, and was also a driving force to launch Point Russell’s food truck program.

- ProfileYolanda has been a tireless advocate and a voice for Point Russell’s children for more than 10 years. Prior to being elected to the council, Yolanda was a Senior Project Director at Advocates for Children, where she led efforts to advocate for systemic policy reforms that would ensure equity and excellence in education for students in Point Russell public schools.

He served as a teacher for at-risk youth, was the Assistant Director of the Jackson Mann Community Center and spent 5 years as the Executive Director of the Veronica B. Smith Multi-Service Senior Center. In addition, Mark has been a small business owner and been a founding member of several civic organizations.
