What to know before starting an appeal

• An email address is required. The email address used to create the account is how you will be emailed your Filing ID (used to access your online account), and your CCAO Appeal Docket Number (used to reference your appeal in the CCAO)
• When to start - It is best to start your filing when your property's township is open for appeals. See the Appeals Calendar for the dates your township is open for filing. Starting a filing before your township is open may result in a deleted file or the need to restart the appeal.
  • Note: You will be able to save a draft of a filing, modify that filing, and upload attachments prior to submitting.
• Attachments: Please provide your attachments with your appeal. Note - attachments can not be submitted after an appeal has been submitted. Attachments will include:
  • Appraisal
  • Photo
  • Comparable properties: See our four-step guide to find and attach comparable properties
• Submit prior to the townships deadline - Only submissions received by the CCAO date will be accepted
• Results of your appeal will be processed in a timely manner and sent by mail. Appeal determinations will NOT be sent by email.

• When the subject of an appeal is an income-producing property, you will also be required to file the Real Property Income and Expense (RPIE) statement here
